Army opens domestic drone-component manufacturing lines
Aerospace America’s Aspen Pflughoeft reported that the U.S. Army will open an advanced manufacturing line Tuesday at Tobyhanna Army Depot in Pennsylvania to make brushless motors for small drones. The motor line is expected to produce 480,000 units annually; a new circuit-card line at the depot can make 90,000-150,000 units a year with one or two operators and will supply the Pentagon’s Drone Dominance program. Army planners also expect Rock Island Arsenal to make drone structures and Red River Army Depot to assemble batteries.

AREONOUS has built a command-and-control system and interceptor drone for automatically detecting and intercepting small maneuvering targets, with claimed protection ranges from about 50 kilometers down to a 200-meter soldier-portable setup. The system combines Innoviz LiDAR, Echodyne radar and Controp cameras with net capture for FPV drones that cannot be jammed electronically, and the company reports paying customers and initial deployments on Israel Shipyards-built warships.
