Avweb’s Matt Ryan reports the FAA extended the public comment period to Aug. 5 for its proposed unmanned aircraft flight restriction process near eligible fixed-site facilities. The rule would let operators of critical infrastructure, energy sites, oil refineries, chemical facilities, amusement parks, rail facilities and state prisons request UAFRs generally limited to property boundaries and up to 400 feet AGL. The FAA says the designations would apply only to drones and would not authorize jamming, capture or interference.
