Bob Dylan’s “Wallflower”

Bob Dylan recorded “Wallflower” in New York in 1971, but his version was not widely available until The Bootleg Series Volumes 1–3 in 1991.

Doug Sahm recorded the song in 1972 with Dylan contributing guitar and vocals, making Sahm’s 1973 album the first broadly available release. Its country-waltz character has carried through later recordings by David Bromberg, Buddy and Julie Miller, Uncle Earl, and Diana Krall, giving the song a continuing place in Dylan’s musical catalog despite Dylan never performing it live.
