Maryland Creates Data Center Review…Maryland Creates Data Center Review Task Force

On September 23, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore issued an executive order creating a state task force to review data center projects with projected or actual peak demand of at least 25 megawatts. Reviews will assess energy costs, infrastructure, economic benefits, community engagement, environmental effects, and transparency; findings can affect the timing of state review and eligibility for state support, but do not replace local approval authority. The order also establishes a public project dashboard and supports seeking legislative repeal of the state data center tax exemption.
