Meta Platforms and BlackRock have formed a venture to develop and own a roughly $14 billion, AI-focused data center campus in El Paso, Texas. BlackRock-managed funds will hold 80% of the venture and Meta 20%, while Meta will lease the full campus as its initial sole occupant. The site is under construction, is designed for 1 gigawatt of compute capacity, and is expected to begin bringing capacity online in 2028.
