Oregon Cancels Land Sale for Verrus Salem Data Center

Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek directed the state to terminate a pending sale of about 32 acres in Salem to Verrus, a California company proposing a roughly $5 billion data-center campus. The action followed public opposition centered on potential water, electricity, infrastructure and land-use effects, as well as concerns over prior confidentiality surrounding the project. Salem is still considering a moratorium on new data-center projects, while it remains uncertain whether Verrus could pursue development using adjacent private land.
