Chinese Researchers Develop Laser-Powered Drone Charger image

Researchers at the Civil Aviation University of China, with Tsinghua University involvement, have demonstrated a laser-powered receiver intended to extend drone endurance. The perovskite laser cell-thermoelectric device converted 38.49% of green laser energy into electricity and powered a propeller on a stationary drone model. The laboratory prototype still requires lightweight aircraft integration, outdoor flight testing, beam tracking and airspace-safety measures before operational use.
