Pentagon Moves Iran War Casualties to Overseas Category

The Pentagon's Defense Casualty Analysis System moved four U.S. troop deaths and dozens of wounded personnel out of its Iran war tally into a new "Overseas Operations" category. The shift reduced the displayed Iran-conflict total from 18 dead and 482 wounded to 14 dead and 420 wounded, while the new category listed four deaths and 207 wounded. Pentagon officials called the changes temporary data disruptions and anomalies, but uncertainty over which injuries are tied to the Iran conflict has intensified scrutiny of casualty reporting during renewed fighting.
