Secret Service Adds Drone Detection as Threats Rise

The U.S. Secret Service says it has opened more than 10,000 threat investigations this year, about 40% more than in the comparable prior-year period. Agency leaders are expanding drone detection and mitigation capabilities at the White House, during presidential travel, and at other protected events as they warn that evolving drone technology can bypass traditional security measures. Officials also cite increased online, lone-actor, foreign-linked, and mental health-related concerns in the protective threat environment.
