FTC Sues Hims & Hers Over Health Data Sharing

The Federal Trade Commission, joined by California and Utah, has sued telehealth provider Hims & Hers in federal court over alleged sharing of consumers' sensitive health information with advertising platforms. The complaint alleges that customer-list uploads and website tracking technologies transmitted health-related data despite privacy representations, and that the company used misleading subscription billing and cancellation practices. Hims & Hers disputes the allegations and says it will defend itself. The case extends the FTC's recent scrutiny of health-data sharing by digital health providers and ad-tech partners.
