South Korea's Personal Information Protection Commission fined KT Corp 54 billion won ($37.4 million) after an investigation into a customer data breach spanning 2024 and 2025. The regulator said hackers obtained personal and payment data from more than 16,600 mobile subscribers, which was used for 240 million won in unauthorized payments. It also said malware was found on KT servers and alleged that KT concealed the intrusion and failed to notify authorities as required.
