A World Weather Attribution analysis found that human-caused warming made the hot, dry and windy conditions associated with major wildfires at least twice as likely in southwestern France and at least 20 times as likely in central Spain. A separate Scientific Reports study found that extreme fire-weather days have become more frequent and intense across parts of southern Europe. The findings underscore how heat, drought, wind and accumulated vegetation can strain firefighting capacity and increase the need for preventive land management.
