The Story

Cubico Sustainable Investments and Mexico's Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) have signed a 25-year joint-venture agreement to develop five renewable-energy projects totaling 578 MWac, paired with 500 MWh of battery storage. The portfolio is expected to mobilize nearly US$1 billion and spans Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, Campeche and the Yucatán Peninsula. The agreement is an early test of Mexico's mixed-investment framework, which retains CFE's central planning role while permitting structured private participation in new power infrastructure.
