The Story

EDP has begun testing a 36 MW, 72 MWh battery system at its Las Lomillas site in Cuenca, Spain, ahead of commercial operation. The facility combines an existing 49.5 MW wind farm, a 36 MW solar plant, and storage through a single grid connection, with an energy-management system directing generation and battery charging. The project is intended to make renewable output more flexible while making fuller use of limited grid export capacity.
